Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was stabbed multiple times during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence, may be discharged from Lilavati Hospital by January 21, 2025. Doctors have asked him to remain in rest for a few more days despite an improvement in his health condition.

He was stabbed six times on January 16 by the intruder who was trying to gain entry into his home. Two of the stabs had hit very close to his spine, thus were so deep. The intrusion had occurred at 2:15 am as the burglar first attacked the house help before proceeding to attack Saif. The actor was taken for surgery, where doctors managed to take out a 2.5-inch knife blade from his wound. He was shifted to the ICU and is now out of danger, though he was kept under observation for another day till January 20.

The Mumbai police have arrested the attacker, Mohammed Shehzad, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally. Shehzad, who was a national-level wrestling champion in Bangladesh, had adopted the alias Vijay Das. The police stated that he had a motive of robbery and was in Mumbai for the past 5–6 months. Shehzad was targeting Saif’s residence.

He had noticed the compound did not have any security guard or CCTV cameras behind the building. The man had just started working in Bandra and was travelling through this road at night almost daily. Shehzad, who was working with a housekeeping agency, was arrested and produced in the court that sent him to police custody for five days.
