Zee Studios has unveiled the teaser for its upcoming romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, starring Vikrant Massey and debutante Shanaya Kapoor. With a runtime of just 58 seconds, the teaser aims to stir curiosity but ends up offering more confusion than connection, leaving audiences with mixed first impressions.
A Mysterious Premise, Poorly Communicated
The teaser opens with a scenic, mountainous backdrop that frames an intimate yet strangely disjointed moment between the lead pair. Vikrant Massey, donning dark glasses, and Shanaya Kapoor, blindfolded, engage in subtle, non-verbal interactions. The visual setup seems to hint at deeper themes—perhaps revolving around perception, emotional connection, or sensory experience. However, the execution lacks coherence, and the imagery fails to communicate a clear emotional or narrative thread.
While the concept might have intended to evoke intrigue and thematic depth, it instead raises more questions than anticipation. Are both characters visually impaired? Is one guiding the other? Or is it a symbolic take on blind love and trust? The teaser offers no answers—just stylized ambiguity.
Chemistry That Misses the Mark
Much of the teaser’s emotional weight rests on the chemistry between Vikrant and Shanaya, but the pairing feels awkward and underwhelming. Despite Vikrant Massey’s proven acting prowess, his presence here feels restrained and disconnected. Shanaya Kapoor, making her big-screen debut, appears graceful but doesn’t quite deliver the emotional resonance expected from such a role.
A particular scene of Shanaya dancing blindfolded in the breeze is likely meant to symbolize freedom and emotional awakening, but the moment falls flat, lacking the impact needed to leave a lasting impression.
Another Uncertain Step for Zee Studios
Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan follows a string of underperforming or critically underwhelming titles from Zee Studios, including Emergency, Fateh, and Deva. The studio’s latest outing seems yet again to lean heavily on visual appeal while neglecting narrative clarity and emotional substance.
A poster released prior to the teaser hinted at the film’s tone but did little to shed light on its storyline. With a nationwide release slated for 11 July 2025, the film has time to redeem itself through trailers and music promotions, but the teaser sets a wobbly foundation for what should have been a compelling romantic launchpad.
