Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I teaser poster unveiled: Here’s what Vishnurata means

Sagar Pictures unveils the first teaser poster of Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata, the opening film of its seven part theatrical saga releasing in 2027.

Sagar Pictures Entertainment has unveiled the first teaser poster of Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata, the first film in its planned seven part theatrical saga. The poster gives audiences an early look at the film and introduces the spiritual world that will form the basis of the larger story.

The title Vishnurata means “the one protected by Vishnu.” The first poster uses this idea of divine protection as a key part of its imagery and gives a glimpse of the setting and tone of the upcoming film.

The project comes from the same house that created the landmark television series Ramayan in 1987. This time, Sagar Pictures Entertainment is adapting the Bhagavatam Mahapurana, one of India’s most revered sacred texts, which has been read by millions of people across the world.

With Lord Shri Krishna, described as the Supreme Divine, at the centre of the story, the Bhagavatam explores themes of devotion, dharma and the relationship between human beings and the divine. The first part, titled Vishnurata, will begin this larger cinematic journey.

Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata is co directed by award winning filmmakers Akash Sagar Chopra and Amrit Sagar Chopra. Both filmmakers are the grandsons of the late filmmaker and producer Shri Ramanand Sagar, who was behind the widely known Ramayan television series.

The film is currently in the final stages of production. According to the makers, the project has involved detailed production design and filmmaking work to build a cinematic world based on the scale and details of the original text. The story is being developed with a focus on authenticity while adapting the source material for the big screen.

Presented by Sagar Pictures Entertainment, Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres across all premium formats in 2027. The makers are expected to share more details about Part 1 in further announcements.
