Varun Dhawan gave his fans a glimpse of a very different side of his life as he stepped away from the glamour of Bollywood and spent a day working on a farm. The actor shared a series of pictures on Instagram showing himself getting involved in agricultural work. Instead of movie sets and cameras, Varun was seen in the fields planting rice and using a shovel as he experienced farming first hand.
Sharing the pictures on social media, Varun kept his caption short and simple. He wrote, “Kheti shuru.” The pictures offered a glimpse of the actor enjoying a more hands on experience away from his busy film schedule. His farming stint also gave fans a look at an activity that is very different from the glamorous image usually associated with Bollywood stars.
On the work front, Varun was recently seen in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, a romantic comedy directed by his father, filmmaker David Dhawan. The film features Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, along with Maniesh Paul, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Sheirgill and Mouni Roy in supporting roles. The story follows Jass and Bani, a couple whose marriage comes to an end because of differences over family planning. Jass later starts a new relationship abroad, but his life becomes complicated when unexpected secrets and relationships come into the picture. The film was also intended to be David Dhawan’s final directorial project.
Varun has also been part of Border 2, which released on January 23. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 war and is inspired by true events. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. The movie is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh.
Border 2 is connected to the legacy of J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border. The original film featured Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in important roles. Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sapna Bedi and Rajiv Goswami were also part of the cast.
Varun began his career in the film industry as an assistant director to Karan Johar on My Name Is Khan. He later made his acting debut in 2012 with Student of the Year. During the early years of his career, he enjoyed a strong run at the box office, delivering 11 consecutive successful films between 2012 and 2018. His latest farming pictures now show the actor enjoying a completely different kind of experience away from the world of films.
