The trailer of Vibe, starring Kunal Kemmu, Preity Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava, has been released. The film brings together comedy, action and a spy story, with two ordinary men finding themselves involved in a situation far beyond their understanding. Written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, Vibe is scheduled to release in theatres on September 18.
The 2 minutes 44 seconds trailer introduces Kunal Kemmu as Hardik, an unemployed middle aged man who is struggling to hold on to his youth. His best friend Bugs, played by Sparsh Shrivastava, is more sensible and practical. The two friends are living fairly ordinary lives when they unexpectedly get caught up in a serious national security situation.
Things take a strange turn when Hardik and Bugs are recruited to work as spies. Preity Zinta plays Madam H, the woman responsible for bringing the two unlikely men into the mission. Instead of trained professionals, she has to work with two completely unprepared people who have little idea about the dangerous situation they have entered.
The trailer shows the pair trying to understand their new role while dealing with situations that are often far beyond their abilities. Their lack of experience becomes an important part of the humour, while the mission gives the story its action and suspense. Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as Nirahua, play agents working in the same agency.
One of the biggest surprises in the trailer is veteran actor Sharmila Tagore. She appears in a special role, adding another interesting element to the film. Her appearance is particularly notable because Kunal Kemmu is her son in law, making this a unique professional collaboration between the two. Kunal has also spoken about the experience of directing her in the film.
The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Vanshika Dhir. For Sparsh Shrivastava, Vibe is his first film after Aamir Khan’s Laapataa Ladies, although he has also appeared in the Prime Video series Dupahiya.
Vibe is Kunal Kemmu’s second directorial project after Madgaon Express. The trailer carries a similar comedy of errors setup, with ordinary people getting caught in an unusual situation. However, this time the story moves into the world of spies and national security.
The film is produced by Kunal Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under Drongo Films and is set to arrive in cinemas on September 18.
