After the massive success of Chhaava earlier this year, Vicky Kaushal is all set to headline another grand historical saga titled Mahavatar. Backed by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the film promises to be a landmark cinematic venture. Kaushal will be seen portraying the mythological warrior Chiranjeevi Parashurama in what’s being described as Maddock’s most ambitious project to date.
Dinesh Vijan on Bollywood’s Evolution and Global Ambitions
Speaking at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) on May 2, 2025, Dinesh Vijan emphasized the need for Bollywood to focus on global distribution. Comparing Hollywood and Bollywood, he said, “Everyone says ‘Content is king,’ but a very wise man told me, ‘Distribution is God.’” He noted that while American studios have invested in building a worldwide audience, Indian filmmakers are just beginning to do the same.
Vijan also spoke about the shift in storytelling after the pandemic, with filmmakers now catering more to the common man. “Stree and Chhaava are deeply rooted in Indian culture and they’ve resonated with audiences. When such films do well, they give you the capital to dream bigger,” he explained.
