The trailer of Nayyi Navelli, the upcoming fantasy family entertainer starring Yami Gautam Dhar, has been unveiled. Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film brings together a supernatural story, family drama and the festive setting of Dussehra. Yami plays Mohini, a newly married woman whose arrival in her in laws’ family soon leads to suspicion because of her unusual powers.
Set against the backdrop of Meerut, the story introduces Mohini as a new bride who does not appear to be quite like everyone else. Her in laws begin to suspect that she could be a daayan after witnessing some of the strange things surrounding her. However, the trailer suggests that Mohini’s powers may have a very different purpose and that she could become the person who protects others from a much bigger threat.
The film takes its fantasy story into the Dussehra celebrations, with Mohini eventually using her powers to fight Ravana. This gives Nayyi Navelli a mix of family emotions, supernatural elements and mythology while keeping the central character of a newly married woman at the heart of the story. The trailer also introduces the unusual situation faced by Mohini as she tries to find her place within her new family.
Nayyi Navelli has been directed by Balaji Mohan and is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma. The film features music by GV Prakash. Yami Gautam Dhar leads the cast as Mohini, with the story placing her character at the centre of the supernatural mystery.
The film is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow. With its combination of a family setting, fantasy elements and Dussehra mythology, Nayyi Navelli takes a different approach to the story of a new bride adjusting to life with her in laws.
The trailer establishes Mohini as a character who is initially viewed with suspicion but gradually becomes connected to a larger conflict. Her supernatural abilities and the presence of Ravana form the main fantasy element of the story. Nayyi Navelli is positioned as a family entertainer that combines humour, emotion and fantasy within its Dussehra setting.
