He is not a conventional hero. He does not have extraordinary powers, a powerful position or some larger than life personality. He is an ordinary family man who loves movies, spends time with his family and, when pushed into an impossible situation, discovers that he is capable of extraordinary calculation.
Ajay Devgn’s restraint makes Vijay even more memorable. He rarely needs to raise his voice. Sometimes the most interesting thing about him is how normal he appears while the audience knows that there is an elaborate plan running inside his head.
Then there is Tabu’s Meera Deshmukh, who gives the story another dimension. Watching these two characters try to read each other is one of the pleasures of the film. Neither is foolish.
