Blackpink member Lisa is set to give fans a closer look at her journey as a solo artist with the upcoming documentary Always Lalisa. The singer and rapper stepped into a bigger solo spotlight early last year with Alter Ego, her debut solo album. Before releasing the full length record, Lisa had already experimented with solo music through projects such as the 2021 EP Lalisa. However, making a complete album brought a different level of pressure and responsibility, which she will now explore through her new documentary.
Always Lalisa is directed by Sue Kim and follows Lisa as she builds her career outside Blackpink while continuing to deal with the demands of global fame. The documentary will look at different parts of her professional and personal life, including her work in music, fashion and television. It will also focus on the public image and personal brand she has created while working across different areas of entertainment.
The documentary is scheduled to arrive in international theaters on Oct. 12. Its release comes shortly before Lisa’s next music project, Press Play. The six track project will include the upcoming single “Sawadika,” which is set to arrive on Sept. 3. Press Play is scheduled for release on Oct. 23 and is expected to show a more personal side of Lisa’s music.
The new project will also give Lisa an opportunity to explore her Thai background more deeply. Her roots have been an important part of her identity, and Press Play will reportedly take a more personal approach compared with some of her earlier solo work.
Lisa’s schedule will remain busy after the release of the documentary and music project. In November, she is set to make history as the first K pop artist to stage a Las Vegas residency. The milestone adds another major achievement to a solo career that has continued to expand beyond her work with Blackpink.
With Always Lalisa, Press Play and her upcoming Las Vegas residency, Lisa is entering another important period in her solo career while continuing to balance music, fashion, television and her life in the public eye.
