Brad Pitt’s upcoming film Heart Of The Beast is not only about survival in extreme conditions. For the actor, the film is also about loyalty, love and the strong connection between a person and their dog. In a new featurette released by Paramount Pictures, Pitt talks about his character James Belmont and his relationship with his combat dog Odin.
Pitt explained that the story immediately connected with him when he first read the script. He was especially interested in the bond between humans and dogs and also liked the opportunity to work again with director David Ayer. The two previously collaborated on Fury.
“When I first picked up the script for this movie, I read it and it just really, really moved me. That bond between human and dog, dog and human, it’s something quite incredible,” Pitt says in the featurette.
Heart Of The Beast follows Special Forces officer James Belmont and his combat dog Odin after their plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness. Stranded in a dangerous and remote area, the two must deal with harsh weather and difficult conditions while trying to find a way to survive. Their trust in each other becomes an important part of their journey.
Pitt described the movie as a survival story with a deeper emotional layer. “This is on its surface a survival movie but underneath its surface it’s a love story,” says Pitt and continued, “The experience cemented what I know to be true about our relationship with dogs, and their relationship with us. It’s that intense loyalty and their love is unconditional. We are less alone in the world, because of our dogs.”
David Ayer also spoke about the relationship between James and Odin. “James and Odin never give up on each other. They would sacrifice themselves in a heartbeat for the other”, he said. JK Simmons, who plays Watkins, added, “I was absolutely absorbed by these characters. There’s deep, deep heart in this movie.”
The film also stars Anna Lambe and JK Simmons. It is written by Cameron Alexander and produced by Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen, David Ayer and Brad Pitt. Heart Of The Beast is produced by Paramount Pictures in association with Domain Entertainment and Gulfstream Pictures.
Heart Of The Beast will arrive exclusively in cinemas across India on 25th September 2026.
