Emma Watson achieved a household reputation thanks to her on-screen characterization of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise. Based on J.K. Rowling’s classic books, the movie series also included Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Having played Hermione through much of her childhood, Watson transitioned perfectly into other well-known characters in movies like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beauty and the Beast, and Little Women (2019). However, after a successful professional life in acting, Watson stepped away from the limelight to concentrate on her studies in Oxford University.

Restrictions on Roles: S*x and Drug Use
In an interview with The Times, Watson indicated she was choosy about the roles she played. She indicated that she would never play characters engaged in drug use or accept n*de scenes just for the sake of shock. “I’m not going to get my kit off or snort cocaine in a film just to leave Hermione behind,” she stated. Despite this, Watson also acknowledged that if nudity were essential to the character development or storyline, she would consider it. In a separate interview with The Scotsman, she added, “If it’s important for the character development. then I’ll do it because I’m an actress.”
Challenges of Moving On
After playing Hermione for over a decade, Watson found it challenging to step into different roles. She confessed in a 2012 interview with Jonathan Ross that she doubted her abilities to play other characters. “I’d just played one person, who was similar to my own personality. the idea of playing somebody else was terrifying,” she admitted.
Pursuing Creative Writing
Watson recently signed up for a master’s degree in creative writing at Oxford, looking back on her decision to leave acting behind. She told Vogue UK, “I have this sense of having my own voice and creative space. more autonomy,” as she enters a new phase in her personal and professional development.
