Universal Pictures India, distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery, is bringing the new fantasy film Forgotten Island to Indian cinemas on 25th September 2026. The film is based around friendship and follows two young women as they enter a mysterious world filled with magic and mythology.
Forgotten Island is written and directed by Academy Award and BAFTA nominee Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado. The film is produced by Academy Award and BAFTA nominee Mark Swift. The three filmmakers previously worked on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

The story follows Jo and Raissa, two high school graduates who have been best friends since grade school. With their school days coming to an end, the two friends are preparing to take different paths in life.
During their final night together, Jo and Raissa come across a mysterious portal. The discovery changes their plans when the portal transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali.
The island is home to magical and mythological creatures that the two friends know from stories they heard while growing up in their Filipino families. As they try to understand the strange new place around them, Jo and Raissa must also find a way to deal with the challenges they face together.
At the centre of the story is the friendship between the two characters. Their journey through Nakali becomes an experience that tests their bond while introducing them to a world filled with creatures and stories connected to Filipino culture.
Forgotten Island is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on 25th September 2026. The film will offer audiences a fantasy story that combines friendship, adventure and elements of Filipino mythology.
