Inde Navarrette’s next role gets even wilder!

After Obsession and her X Men casting as Rogue, Inde Navarrette joins Apple’s sci fi thriller The Waffle House Index.

Inde Navarrette is adding another high profile project to her growing slate, with the actor set to lead Apple Original Films’ sci fi thriller The Waffle House Index. The casting comes as Navarrette continues to build momentum following her role in the hit horror film Obsession and her casting as Rogue in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X Men feature.

The Waffle House Index follows Navarrette as a night shift waitress whose seemingly routine shift takes a wildly unexpected turn. The story spirals into a survival thriller involving a nuclear explosion, alien encounters and a hidden bunker located beneath the restaurant.

Louis Paxton is directing the film from a screenplay by Andrew Nunnelly, with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment producing. Nunnelly’s script was also featured on the 2025 Black List, giving the project an added industry pedigree.

The title refers to the real world Waffle House Index, an informal measure used to gauge the severity of disasters by looking at whether a Waffle House remains fully operational, operates with a limited menu or is forced to close. The concept has become closely associated with disaster response because of the restaurant chain’s reputation for staying open during major storms.

For Navarrette, the project represents a notable shift in scale and genre. After making an impact with Obsession, she is now moving into both major franchise territory with Marvel’s X Men and original genre filmmaking with Apple and Plan B.

Her casting in The Waffle House Index also gives her a lead role in a project that combines grounded disaster survival with increasingly strange science fiction elements, making it a particularly distinctive addition to her emerging filmography.

Apple has not yet announced a release date for The Waffle House Index.
