Katy Perry’s recent venture into space aboard Blue Origin’s all-female mission has sparked much discussion, but it seems the pop star’s bold journey has also stirred some backlash from within the entertainment industry. Among the critics is Trace Cyrus, the brother of pop star Miley Cyrus, who took to social media to slam Katy Perry in an angry rant.
Trace Cyrus Slams Katy Perry’s Career Choices
In a video shared on his Instagram account, Trace unleashed a tirade against Katy, accusing her of “copying” his sister Miley’s career moves. “I first knew Katy Perry and her team were lame as f**k when her career was first dying,” Trace began. He then claimed that Katy’s team tried to emulate Miley’s success by mirroring her dramatic career shift, particularly Miley’s decision to chop off her hair and embrace a more rebellious image.
“You cut your hair off, you bleached it blonde… we should do that with you, Katy,” he said, referencing Miley’s iconic transformation. Trace also criticized Perry’s attempts to align herself with the hip-hop scene, adding that Miley’s transition to working with artists like Mike WiLL Made-It, Wiz Khalifa, and Juicy J didn’t work for Katy. “You’re gonna do exactly what the fk Miley did and blow up. Guess what? It didn’t fking work.”
Katy Perry’s Space Mission Sparks Mixed Reactions
Trace didn’t stop there. He also mocked Perry’s latest stunt joining an all-female crew for a trip to space aboard Blue Origin. The singer, along with Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, Aisha Bowe, and Amanda Nguyen, embarked on the 11-minute journey, which concluded with a safe return to Earth. While the trip was a moment of achievement for the crew, many, including Trace, felt it was another misguided attempt to regain relevance.
“Now we’re gonna send your a** to space. Didn’t f**king work. It’s not working. It’s backfiring. Stop,” Trace concluded in his rant.

Katy Perry Reflects on Her Space Journey
In contrast to the online criticism, Katy Perry took to social media after her return to Earth, sharing a more positive perspective on her space journey. Reflecting on the experience, she expressed feeling “super connected to life” and “so connected to love” following her historic flight. Her comments were in line with the uplifting messages she often shares with her fans.
While the space mission may have earned Perry praise from some corners, Trace’s blunt comments serve as a reminder that not everyone is impressed by the pop star’s latest attempts to break new ground.
