Kelly Osbourne has spoken openly about the difficult period she went through after the death of her father, legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne. The television personality revealed that her grief became so overwhelming that she experienced significant weight loss and eventually used wigs to hide how thin her face had become.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Kelly described her appearance at the time as frightening. “I looked like the f–king Crypt Keeper,” she said. She recalled looking at herself and being shocked by how much weight she had lost. “I said, ‘This is scary. I didn’t know I looked like this,’” she recalled. “My spine you could see every single bone.”
Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 in July 2025. Looking back, Kelly said she was so consumed by grief that she struggled to see herself clearly. She explained that she was focused on what other people were seeing rather than understanding how badly she herself was affected by the loss.
“I was in so much pain,” Kelly said. “I just saw a broken person.”
Kelly also remembered attending the 2026 Grammy Awards in February, where her late father was honoured with a live performance of Black Sabbath’s classic song “War Pigs.” She said she decided to wear a wig because she did not want people to focus on her appearance during an event that was meant to celebrate her father and his musical legacy.
“I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn’t see how skinny my cheekbones really were,” she said.
Kelly also praised the people who worked with her during that difficult time. She explained that her stylists understood what she was going through and tried to select clothes that would not make her appear even thinner.
“They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier.”
The actress admitted that she was frightened and questioned whether attending the Grammys had been the right decision. “I was scared,” she said. “I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father’s legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don’t think I should have gone. I wasn’t very well.”
Kelly said her grief also affected her appetite. She explained that the emotional pain was sometimes so intense that she could not even think about food.
The star has since said that she is getting better and receiving support. She also revealed that grief affected her friendships, saying some people disappeared while those who stayed proved their loyalty.
Along with mourning her father, Kelly also separated from her fiancé, Sid Wilson, in March. The former couple share a 3 year old son, Sidney.
