The upcoming Street Fighter movie has started its global promotional tour in Japan with a special trailer launch that brought the popular video game world to life in a new way. Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment began the World Warrior Tour with the first trailer being shown across the famous Shinjuku Yunika Vision screens in Tokyo. The event marked the beginning of the movie’s worldwide campaign and brought several members of the cast and creative team together.
Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang and Jason Momoa attended the Tokyo event along with Japanese cast member Hirooki Goto. Japanese voice talent Eiko Kano, director Kitao Sakurai and Street Fighter game director Takayuki Nakayama were also part of the launch. The event connected the upcoming film with its Japanese roots, where the game has a strong fan following.
The trailer launch also introduced something unusual for a movie trailer. Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment released a playable full length version of the trailer on YouTube. Through the STREET FIGHTER Combo Challenge, viewers can interact with the trailer while watching it. This makes the trailer more than something audiences simply watch and gives fans an opportunity to test their skills during the experience.
The movie is set in 1993 and follows Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo. The two estranged fighters are brought back into action when Chun Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What begins as a major fight soon becomes connected to a dangerous conspiracy. Ryu and Ken are also forced to deal with issues from their past as they become caught in the conflict.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter brings several familiar characters from the game to the big screen. The cast includes Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog and Jason Momoa as Blanka.
Street Fighter will release on 16 October 2026 across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
