Timothée Chalamet marked a career milestone as he claimed his first SAG Award for Best Actor. His portrayal of Bob Dylan in the highly regarded biopic A Complete Unknown helped solidify his status as one of the sharpest talents of Hollywood.
Chalamet’s Passionate Acceptance Speech
In his acceptance speech, Chalamet mentioned his tireless pursuit of the art, and I know we’re all in a subjective business, but the act of getting recognized makes me really want to reach for the stars and turn into one of the greats. Citing influences, he mentioned Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, Viola Davis, Michael Jordan, and Michael Phelps as his idols.

Chalamet also spoke of the years of dedication he invested in portraying Dylan as “the honor of a lifetime.” He thanked his mother, who is a veteran member of Actors’ Equity, for bringing him up to love acting and thanked his fellow actors and the crew.
Youngest Best Actor Winner Ever in the History of SAG
At 29, Chalamet is the youngest SAG Best Actor award winner, surpassed Nicolas Cage who was earlier on the with 32 while winning for Leaving Las Vegas (1995). Chalamet beat out the likes of his Oscar-nominated rival Ralph Fiennes (Conclave) and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) and, with the upset of Daniel Craig (Queer), had a particular SAG snub during that event.
Chalamet-SAG Win After Long Wait
This becomes Chalamet’s very first personal SAG win in the wake of three previous individual nominations—two from 2017 (Call Me By Your Name) and Beautiful Boy and one SAG ensemble nomination decade from Lady Bird (2017), Don’t Look Up (2021), A Complete Unknown, and Homeland (2013).
