Chris Hemsworth is set to put on the cape again as Thor in the highly awaited Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. He recently posted an extreme workout video, demonstrating his abilities as he lands strong punches and knees on a heavy bag. He captioned it, “A little Avengers pre-game warm-up, coming in hot,” which excited Marvel fans, all waiting for the God of Thunder’s return.
Directed by the Russo Brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is set to be a cinematic behemoth within the MCU. The movie boasts an all-star cast of iconic MCU players such as Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
They are joined by the Fantastic Four: First Steps cast, including Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm). Robert Downey Jr. is also returning, but this time as the central villain of the movie—Doctor Doom, not Iron Man.
To spice things up even further, legendary characters from the original X-Men comics will also make appearances. Already confirmed are such fan favorites as Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and James Marsden (Cyclops). These cameos have led fans to speculate that the movie will borrow from the Avengers vs. X-Men saga.
Avengers: Doomsday will open Phase Six of the MCU in theaters on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027. The script has been written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
