Fans react to Tom Holland’s ‘The Odyssey’ look! Is this really the best Christopher Nolan could do?

Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film The Odyssey has been in production for several weeks, building excitement among fans. The film, based on the ancient Greek epic by Homer, stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, and has already generated buzz. Last month, the first official look at Matt Damon was released, and now, a leaked image of Tom Holland’s character has surfaced online ahead of its planned reveal.

Tom Holland as Telemachus: A Glimpse of the Character

In the leaked photos, shared on Instagram by Deuxmoi, Holland’s character, Telemachus, is seen wearing a long robe and standing on a boat with other soldiers. Telemachus, the son of Odysseus and Penelope, embarks on a journey to find his missing father after the Trojan War. The images also show Nolan directing Holland and other cast members on set, with the production featuring ancient boats and a deserted port. However, not all reactions to the leak have been positive.

Criticism Over Historical Inaccuracies and Casting Choices

Some fans have expressed concerns over potential historical inaccuracies in the film, especially regarding the armor shown in the leaked photos, which many believe looks too modern and not fitting for the ancient Greek setting. A few critics have also pointed out the absence of Greek actors in key roles, questioning the authenticity of a film based on Greek mythology. One comment read, “A movie about Greek people having no Greeks in it is pretty disappointing,” while another added, “Not the Roman armours.”

An All-Star Cast and IMAX Technology

Despite the controversy, the film is highly anticipated, and Universal Pictures confirmed last year that The Odyssey will be shot across the world using cutting-edge IMAX film technology. It is set to release on July 17, 2026. Apart from Matt Damon and Tom Holland, the film stars Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and several other notable actors.

Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the film, but the leaked images and early criticisms show that The Odyssey might have a bumpy road to its release.
