Anne Hathaway made a striking appearance at the New York world premiere of Verity on Tuesday, Sept. 29, choosing an elegant black gown for the occasion. The 43 year old actress, who is pregnant with her third child, highlighted her growing baby bump in a dramatic maternity look while walking the red carpet at AMC Lincoln Square 13. Hathaway is expecting the baby with her husband Adam Shulman.
Styled by Erin Walsh, Hathaway wore a black lace mermaid cut gown with a sheer cape featuring glitter details. The outfit came from Prabal Gurung’s atelier collection. She completed the look with a diamond bracelet and teardrop shaped earrings. For her makeup, Hathaway kept things simple with bronze eye makeup and a nude matte lip. Her long brunette hair was styled half up and half down, giving the overall look a classic finish.

Hathaway plays bestselling author Verity Crawford in the psychological thriller, which also stars Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett. The movie is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2018 novel of the same name and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 2. The story follows Lowen, played by Johnson, a struggling writer facing financial problems who gets an unexpected opportunity to complete a popular book series after Verity is unable to continue. Hartnett plays Jeremy, Verity’s husband.

Hathaway is already a mother to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. She announced her pregnancy in June and has since appeared at several events while showcasing different maternity looks. She has been promoting projects including The Odyssey and The End of Oak Street during her pregnancy.
In August, Hathaway revealed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she and Shulman know the sex of their third baby but are “not saying.” She also spoke to PEOPLE in July about this stage of her life, saying, “I’m excited. This is very, very fun. It’s extremely surreal.”
The actress has continued to appear at major events. On Sept. 9, she attended Bulgari’s Serpenti Infinito event in New York wearing a strapless lilac chiffon gown by McQueen. She also appeared at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards ceremony during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Aug. 16, where she wore a purple gown with Grecian inspired draping and a cape.
