Hitmaker Badshah has entered the Marathi music space with his first ever Marathi hip hop track, Chimna. The song combines traditional Marathi folk sounds with modern hip hop, bringing together two different musical styles in a contemporary format. Chimna focuses on Marathi culture, community and everyday life. Instead of using only a studio setting for the song’s visual presentation, Badshah filmed the music video across Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The video captures different parts of local life, including wedding processions, daily wage workers and mud wrestlers training inside a traditional akhada.
Marathi actress Neha Khan also features in the music video, adding another familiar face from the regional entertainment industry to the project.
Badshah brought together artists from different musical backgrounds for his Marathi debut. The song features Bollywood playback singer Divya Kumar and Marathi folk artist Nagesh Morwekar. Music producer Hiten has also worked on the track, helping bring together the folk and hip hop elements.
The song uses traditional Marathi folk poetry alongside Badshah’s rap verses. It begins with the rural folk hookline, ‘ek chimna chiv chivla / majha sajan jaga zhala ho / surya ugavla’ (A sparrow chirped, my beloved woke up, the sun has risen).
From there, the track moves into Badshah’s rap sections, which include Marathi references and everyday language. One of the verses features the line, ‘dance kar rahi dekho maushi maushi /nacho jab tak subah chidiya bole’.
The song also ends with Badshah directly acknowledging his connection with Marathi listeners through the line, ‘tumcha mulga badshah’ (Your boy Badshah).
The music video’s setting in Kolhapur gives Chimna a strong regional identity, while the hip hop production keeps the sound connected to Badshah’s usual musical style. The collaboration also brings together folk musicians, playback singers and contemporary rap.
Chimna is now available on all major streaming platforms from 31st August 2026. The release marks Badshah’s first Marathi hip hop record and adds another regional language project to his music career.
