LISA has released her new single SaWaDiKa, a track that puts her Thai roots at the centre of her latest music. The song arrives ahead of her upcoming six track EP PRESS PLAY, which is scheduled to release on October 23. With SaWaDiKa, LISA combines rap, pop and elements connected to her Thai identity. The track features confident rap verses in which she reflects on her journey and growth, along with a catchy hook built around the familiar Thai greeting. The song gives listeners another look at LISA’s musical style while also highlighting an important part of her background.
The new release comes as LISA continues to build her career as a solo artist. After making her mark as a member of BLACKPINK, she has continued to explore different sounds and visual styles through her solo work. SaWaDiKa adds another layer to that journey by bringing her Thai identity directly into the song.
One of the lines that has caught the attention of fans is ‘HOW MANY WANT MY NAME? HOW MANY?’ The confident lyric fits the overall attitude of the track and reflects the self assured style LISA brings to her solo music.
The music video also plays an important role in the release. It features LISA in streetwear inspired looks, detailed jeweled headpieces and tightly coordinated choreography. The visuals combine modern fashion with elements that help connect the release to her Thai roots.
The song has also started receiving attention from music outlets and fans, with Rolling Stone describing the release as supercharged. The track has been gaining views and showing early movement on music charts following its release.
PRESS PLAY will contain six tracks and is set to arrive on October 23. SaWaDiKa serves as the latest preview of what listeners can expect from the project.
For LISA, the single is more than another solo release. It brings together her international pop career and her Thai background, while giving fans a clearer idea of the direction she is taking with her upcoming EP.
