The announcement also comes with a major change to how Miley is presenting herself publicly, as she has dropped her last name from her social media handles and is now using simply Miley.
The singer’s new musical phase will begin with the lead single Bass Persuades, which is set to be released tomorrow. The song is expected to introduce listeners to the sound of the new album, with electronic elements and industrial guitars forming part of its musical style. Signed vinyl editions of the album have also already been made available to fans.
BASS PERSUASION will mark Miley’s debut album under Atlantic Records. It follows her previous album Something Beautiful, which was released before this latest change in her musical direction. Along with the new album announcement, Miley has also updated her social media identity, making the name change part of the wider transition into this new phase of her career.

The singer is also scheduled to perform two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October. These performances will give her an opportunity to bring the new material to the stage following the release of BASS PERSUASION on September 18.
Miley’s decision to use only her first name has also received support from her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. He backed the change while comparing the move to well known artists such as Dolly, Cher, and Prince, who are widely recognised by their first names or single stage names.
