I Want To Talk, starring Abhishek Bachchan, has proven to be a major disappointment at the box office since its release on November 22, 2024. On its seventh day, the film’s box office performance hit rock bottom, with collections dipping to just 1 lakh. The film’s journey started on a concerning note, with an opening day earning of only 25 lakhs. While there was a slight recovery on the second and third days, with collections of 55 lakhs and 50 lakhs, the downward trend quickly resumed after that.
As of now, the total box office collection stands at a mere 1.87 crore, and it is unlikely to even cross the 2 crore mark. This performance has led many to speculate that I Want To Talk would have fared better as an OTT release, considering its niche appeal. Its failure at the box office could prompt a digital release in the near future, where it may potentially find a more receptive audience.
The film has marked one of the weakest openings in Abhishek Bachchan’s career. Directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Ritesh Shah, the film also stars Ahilya Bamroo, Johnny Lever, and Jayant Kripalani in key roles. Despite the star power, the film’s thematic focus may not have resonated widely with cinema-goers.
