Alia Bhatt’s latest release Jigra has seen a steady decline at the domestic box office. Directed by Vasan Bala and co-starring Vedang Raina, the action-adventure film collected ₹1.60 crore on Day 5 (October 15), bringing its total box office earnings to ₹19.85 crore. The movie saw a 10.68% Hindi occupancy rate on Tuesday, according to reports from Sacnilk. Despite the promising start, the film has faced challenges in maintaining its momentum at the box office.

Jigra is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film features an ensemble cast including Ankur Khanna, Manoj Pahwa, Akansha Ranjan, Rahul Ravindran, Vivek Gomber, and Harssh Singh in key roles. While the movie opened to much anticipation, it is facing competition at the box office, notably from Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which released on October 11.

Ahead of Jigra’s release on October 9, a special screening was held in Mumbai, attended by Alia Bhatt, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and Vedang Raina along with his rumored girlfriend, Khushi Kapoor. The screening also saw the presence of Neetu Kapoor, Karan Johar, and other celebrities like Radhika Madan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Abhimanyu Dassani.

One highlight of Jigra has been Vedang Raina’s performance, particularly his rendition of the classic song “Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka” in the film. Vedang mentioned in an interview with Lallantop that his inspiration for his lip-sync performance came from Ranbir Kapoor, especially noting Ranbir’s iconic lip-syncing in Rockstar. Vedang humorously added that while Ranbir’s real-life singing isn’t the best, his acting skills made the lip-syncing look effortless, and Vedang tried to emulate that technique for Jigra.

With stiff competition and lower box-office numbers, Jigra’s performance will depend on the coming days, especially as other releases pick up momentum.
