Sonu Sood’s Fateh struggles to stay afloat! Rs. 2 cr sunday collection spells trouble

Sonu Sood is the hero of Fateh. The action-drama film features lots of violence but has not attracted much audience to the cinema halls. Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya star in this film.

The film opened at Rs. 2 crore on Friday, with a nationwide ticket price of Rs. 99. It didn’t show any growth over the weekend and managed Rs. 2 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. That makes it Rs. 6 crore net in India for three days. Efforts to maintain steady collections and some external boosting factors did not make Fateh benefit from the kind of word-of-mouth that could have driven higher footfalls.

The film was respected for its stunning action and bloodshed, but the content did not go well with the audience and was flat throughout the weekend. For any film in this genre, the collection over the weekend should have been at least double that of the opening day. The lack of a marquee star, plus zero word of mouth, also did not help the film.

Three-Day Box Office Collections:
Day 1 (Friday): Rs. 2 crore
Day 2 (Saturday): Rs. 2 crore
Day 3 (Sunday): Rs. 2 crore
Total (India): Rs. 6 crore

Fateh is a story of an ex-Indian spy, Fateh Singh, who is now living a quiet life in Punjab. When a young woman he considers family, Nimrat (Shivjyoti Rajput), goes missing while trying to confront the developers of a fraudulent loan app, Fateh embarks on a dangerous mission. He partners with ethical hacker Khushi Sharma (Jacqueline Fernandez) and uncovers a massive cybercrime racket.

While the premise of cybercrime and gritty action intrigued some, Fateh lacked the narrative depth to sustain audience interest, resulting in a disappointing debut weekend for Sonu Sood’s directorial venture.
