Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, premiered in theaters on October 11. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the comedy-drama had generated some buzz since its announcement in September. However, advance ticket sales were lower than expected, with less than 25,000 tickets sold across major national chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis. Specifically, Cinepolis recorded the sale of 5,500 tickets, while PVR Inox sold 16,500 tickets.
Despite the slow pre-sales, the film is predicted to earn around ₹5 crore on its opening day, with hopes that walk-in and spot bookings, as well as the festive Dussehra period, will boost its earnings to ₹17–21 crore in the coming days.
Set in the 1990s, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video presents a quirky love story between the lead pair. The plot centers on a couple who accidentally lose a CD containing private information, which falls into the hands of someone with malicious intent who demands a ransom. This leads to a comedic series of events, packed with humorous dialogues, romance, and unpredictable situations.
Alongside Rajkummar and Triptii, the film features a strong supporting cast, including Mallika Sherawat, Archana Puran Singh, Vijay Raaz, Mukesh Tiwari, and Mast Ali, with a special dance performance by Shehnaaz Gill teased in the trailer.
Produced by Balaji Telefilms, T-Series, Wakaoo Films, Gulshan Kumar, and Kathavachak Films, the film holds promise as a lighthearted, entertaining watch. Rajkummar Rao has been riding high on the success of Stree 2, while Triptii Dimri’s last appearance was in Bad Newz with Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. The movie’s overall performance at the box office will depend on audience response in the coming days.
