Captain America’s Indian nightmare! Brave New World’s disappointing run continues

Captain America: Brave New World has not done well at the box office in India. Due to the huge following that Marvel has at home, it has not been easy for the film to take off. The film grossed only Rs 13.50 crore on its first weekend and was expected to fall again on Monday, grossing only about Rs 1.50-1.75 crore. The trend at this moment would suggest an India total, in the region of Rs 30 crore, which is abysmally low for an MCU movie. Poor performance due to Marvel fatigue and interest waning

Lack of audience interest seems to be the big reason for Brave New World’s poorness.
Whereas Marvel used to reign supreme at the Indian box office, MD’s Madame Web released, for instance, to no effect. Also damaging to the performance were fan and critic reviews that left much to be desired. Some noted that the newest installment is not as thrilling and glamorous as the first few Captain America flicks. That Chris Evans did not reprise his role as Steve Rogers-and that some tone shifted-didn’t help that growing loss

Competition from Indian cinema
Well, while Marvel has not helped itself, competition from indigenous films has lad the weld audience firmly away. Period Drama Chhaava: Starring Vicky Kaushal has been doing well in the Maharashtra circuit quite steadily. The feel-good essence of the film, coupled with its patriotic essence and emotional content, are seeing the masses coming out for it, deflecting attention from Brave New World

Strong International Responses
While ‘Brave New World’ hasn’t performed well in India, it has received some strong international views. The film grossed well in its first weekend with USD 180.9 million worldwide.
