DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot is hitting milestone after milestone, now crossing yet another global achievement. It continues to perform strongly at the North American box office and has already surpassed A Quiet Place: Day One’s worldwide total. Here are the details

Both films feature Lupita Nyong’o in lead roles. Released earlier this year, A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel in the A Quiet Place series, also starred Djimon Hounsou, who reprised his role from A Quiet Place Part II. With an estimated budget of around $67 million, slightly less than the budget for Chris Sanders’ The Wild Robot, the sci-fi thriller made around 3.9 times its production cost.

Internationally, The Wild Robot added $15.8 million in its second weekend, bringing its overseas total to $147.6 million, per Luiz Fernando’s report. In North America, Chris Sanders’ film remains in the top 3, ranking 3rd with $7.6 million this weekend, marking the biggest sixth weekend ever for an animated September release.

Despite losing 196 theaters on Friday, the film saw an 11% increase from the previous weekend. Available on digital platforms as well, The Wild Robot has now earned $121.5 million domestically and is projected to surpass Migration’s North American total next weekend, eyeing a domestic run of $130 million to $140 million.

Globally, The Wild Robot has surpassed the $250 million mark, now totaling $269 million—exceeding A Quiet Place: Day One’s lifetime worldwide gross of $261.78 million.

Currently, The Wild Robot ranks as the 14th highest-grossing film of 2024, aiming for a global haul of $320 million to $350 million. The film debuted in theaters on September 27.
