Amaran sets the Box Office on Fire for itself in Biopic War Drama Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, which released on 31st October basking in the success of being one of the biggest Blockbusters Tamil Cinema has witnessed in 2024 based on the Inspiring Life of Indian Army Officer Major Mukund Varadarajan.

Crossing Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone in less than 10 days, Amaran went past the Rs 200 crore mark in worldwide collections. In its second Friday, the film stunned with Rs 5.50 crore, taking it to Rs 94.50 crore through nine days. Since the opening week was a fantastic Rs 89 crore, this absolutely puts it across Vettaiyan’s lifetime number Rs 95 crore – further confirming the popularity quotient.

Ticket demand has been unparalleled, with second Saturday pre-sales nearly doubling the full-day collections of Vettaiyan, in a testimonial to how well the movie has been received. It is here that Amaran will double the lifetime earnings of Sivakarthikeyan’s previous hit, Don (2022), cementing its blockbuster status. At the Tamil cinema box office worldwide for 2024, Amaran will come in at second place, while The Greatest of All Time tops the charts.

Amaran Stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund, with Sai Pallavi as his on-screen wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The cast also includes Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora. Released during Diwali alongside Lucky Baskhar, Bloody Beggar, and KA, Amaran has emerged the biggest winner for the holiday season. Inspired by the book series India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes, the film brings an inspiring real-life story of valor and sacrifice to the screen.

This one moment when Major Mukund’s father questions, “Why is Kashmir always in trouble?” is such a refreshing moment where we can glance at how Mukund would look into the political scenario of conflict. Director Rajkumar Periasamy leaves his politicism understated, while presenting the patriotic, romantic as well as the humanist side of Major Mukund. “People who are supposed to talk don’t,” he retorts. What else is there to do?

The film can be viewed as an attack on the leadership on both sides, or a commentary on the state itself. It ends by depicting Major Mukund in his actions and not his opinion. A soldier who is dedicated to do right by his country even though he might believe in something.
