Chiyaan Vikram, whose fearless and potent film selections have been a hallmark of his career, is coming out with his new film, Veera Dheera Sooran, on March 27th. The film, which is directed by Arun Kumar, has attracted around ₹1.30 crore in pre-release bookings in Tamil Nadu. While the figures are not spectacular, Vikram’s loyal fan following is hopeful, remembering how previous films such as Saamy and Dhool opened with modestly before turning into blockbusters due to word of mouth.
Comparisons with L2 Empuraan and Vikram’s Response
In the meantime, Malayalam film L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, is creating a buzz with its staggering advance booking records. The film has raked in ₹1.07 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, with international pre-sales coming close to ₹70 crore for opening weekend. Its first-day sales are already reaching the ₹50 crore mark, ahead of big Tamil movies even before release.

In light of these comparisons, Vikram responded graciously during promotions, saying, “I love Mohanlal sir’s work, and I’m a huge fan. Even my wife always tells me to do films like him. There’s no competition, both movies should do well.” His comment resonated with fans, highlighting his respect for fellow actors and emphasizing that cinema is about admiration, not rivalry.
Vikram’s Fan Base and Future Prospects for Veera Dheera Sooran
Vikram has a devoted fan base in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, courtesy of such classics as Aparichithudu and Mallanna. But his recent experimental films such as Thangalaan, Mahaan, and Cobra failed to leave a big impact at the box office, with people preferring to see his films on OTT platforms.
With slow bookings for Veera Dheera Sooran early on, the movie is now counting on good word-of-mouth to pick up. If it finds a chord with the audience, it has the potential to become another hit for Vikram. Only time will tell if the movie surprises people or will be unable to pick up its pace.
