Kanguva, the much-awaited pan-India film, has, on its part, turned out to be a major disappointment at the Hindi box office. Even though the mystical period drama started off strong with Rs 3.25 crore on the opening day, the momentum fizzled out soon as the subsequent days witnessed almost crucial drops in collections.

With negative word-of-mouth and critical backlash targeting its weak storyline and uneven execution, Kanguva is expected to wrap up its theatrical run in the Hindi belt under Rs 15 crore. The poor performance has worked to the advantage of other films like Amaran and Lucky Baskhar in the Southern states and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again in the Hindi market.
Plot Overview
Kanguva is a two-timeline story where a bounty hunter Francis meets his counterpart in a tribal warrior prince, Kanguva, through the formerly enslaved villagers. While the current-day seeker would find his way to the purposes of Kanguva fighting Romans and other tribes attacking his village in the past. The mystery center of the movie revolves around the linking of two characters from different times and a common destiny.
Audience Response
The movie’s making and narration have not done justice to the promise held by its grandeur. Despite the powerful presence of Suriya on screen, the movie could not be retained in the minds of the viewers’ mind, and it received a very low turnout at the box office.
