Kanguva has so far disappointed in its box office performance, clearly showing a trend of a highly expected release. The film had a weak Thursday opening and did not gather steam even over the weekend, managing to collect an estimated ₹57 crores domestically during its four-day extended opening weekend. Adding up its overseas collection of $2.50 million (approx. ₹21 crores), the worldwide total is at ₹78 crore. End

1. Tamil Nadu Performance:
Grossed ₹24 crore during weekend.
Sunday was below ₹5 crores, though, when compared to ₹10 crores on opening day.
The state so far has been less than the current level of other recent releases of Suriya. Final figures may not go beyond ₹30 crores.

2. North India Contribution:
₹12.50 crore, second-best regional contributor after Tamil Nadu.
The collections were not enough to recover from the losses in other areas.

3. Other Regional Markets:
Telugu States: ₹12 crore – below par.
Kerala and Karnataka**: Disastrous returns at ₹5 crore and ₹3.50 crore respectively, shocking returns for the territories.

4. Relative Performance
Shockingly, Kanguva drew less than Amaran in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, though the latter was in its third week.
The trend indicates a lower mark for the film compared to other Suriya movies, which had also underperformed recently.

Territorial Box Office Breakdown (India):
Area Gross (₹)|
Tamil Nadu –  24.00 crore
Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana – 2.00 crore
Karnataka – 3.50 crore
Kerala – 5.00 crore
Rest of India – 12.50 crore
Total India 57.00 crore

If one adds 3D charges, the numbers in Tamil Nadu go up to Rs. 27 crore, and adding up that figure takes the national figures to ₹63 crore. Even with those additions, though, it’s a little disappointing for such a big-ticket film as Kanguva.

Without a dramatic turnaround, the film’s theatrical run appears to be nearing its end, unable to achieve the momentum expected of a star-led project.
