Carrie trailer reveals what happens when teenage bullying meets terrifying telekinetic powers

Carrie trailer gives a closer look at Mike Flanagan’s eight episode adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, starring Summer H. Howell as the troubled Carrie White.

Prime Video has released the new trailer for Carrie, giving viewers a closer look at Mike Flanagan’s eight episode television adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, while Samantha Sloyan plays her deeply religious mother, Margaret. The series will premiere on Prime Video on October 7, 2026.

The story follows Carrie as she leaves the isolation of her home and starts attending a public high school. For the first time, she has to deal with classmates and the difficult social world around her. However, her attempt to make friends soon turns into another painful experience as she becomes the target of bullying.

The trailer shows one particularly humiliating incident in the school locker room becoming a viral spectacle. As videos and discussions about Carrie spread online, the situation becomes even more difficult for her. At the same time, Carrie’s telekinetic abilities begin to grow stronger, creating a connection between the pressure she faces and the supernatural events that follow.

Flanagan’s adaptation moves the story into the present day, where incidents at school can quickly spread across social media and reach a large audience. The eight episode format also allows the series to explore Carrie’s life and the people around her in greater detail. The story gives more attention to the circumstances surrounding Carrie and the development of her supernatural abilities.

The cast includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.

Several of Flanagan’s regular collaborators also appear in the series, including Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Crystal Balint and Michael Trucco.

Carrie marks the first television adaptation of King’s novel. The best known screen version remains Brian De Palma’s 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek. A second feature adaptation, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, was released in 2013.

Flanagan has previously adapted King’s Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. His adaptation of The Life of Chuck premiered in 2024.

All eight episodes of Carrie will premiere on October 7, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
