Citadel Shocker! Season 2 release delayed – Amazon MGM slams brakes on Priyanka Chopra’s show

The much-awaited second season of Citadel, featuring Priyanka Chopra, has been officially delayed. Originally set to be released this year, the sequel to the spy action series will now premiere in spring 2026, as per a report by Hollywood Reporter. The delay follows Amazon MGM’s reported dissatisfaction with the show’s current development.

All Spinoff Series on Hold

With the delay of Citadel 2, all scheduled spinoff series that are linked to the program are also shelved. According to sources, these spinoffs will not be greenlit until season two drops, if not ever. The move reflects Amazon MGM’s discontent with what they have seen so far of the second season of Citadel.

Season One Recap and Production Updates

Season one of Citadel was released on April 28, 2023, and featured Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra. The six-episode season was among the costliest TV shows ever produced. The series revolves around top agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra), whose memories are erased after barely escaping the collapse of the international spy organization Citadel.

Priyanka herself recently confirmed season two filming ended in late November 2024. She would once again return as Nadia Sinh. Season two is based on a screenplay by David Weil and was produced by the AGBO team of Joe and Anthony Russo.

Spinoffs in Multiple Languages

A number of spin-off shows in non-English languages were announced, such as Citadel: Diana (Italy) and Citadel: Honey Bunny (India). Citadel: Diana, which is directed by Arnaldo Catinari, will air on October 10, 2024, and Citadel: Honey Bunny, featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will have a release date of November 7, 2024, and will be directed by Raj & DK. The future of the two projects is uncertain because of the ongoing delay.
