First look: Dabba Cartel teaser starring Shabana Azmi and Jyothika promises action, drama and suspense

Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming Netflix series, Dabba Cartel, has generated immense buzz ahead of its release. The thriller-drama, announced last year, is now set to premiere on February 28, 2025. On January 31, the makers unveiled the teaser across social media, offering a glimpse into its intense narrative.

The 1:09-minute teaser introduces viewers to five ordinary women from Thane, Maharashtra, who transform their tiffin (dabba) service into a drug cartel. It opens with Shabana Azmi’s powerful dialogue, “Dhande mein khaali do hi cheez hoti hai nafa aur nuksan,” setting the tone for the crime-infused storyline. The teaser showcases the women navigating the dangerous world of drug trafficking. The clip ends with Jyothika interrogating Azmi, “To ye hai tumhara Narcos Thane.”

The announcement sparked excitement among fans, with social media flooded with reactions. Some called it the Breaking Bad female version, while others compared it to Saas Bahu Flamingo. Fans praised the ensemble cast and lauded Shibani Akhtar for creating the show.

At the launch event, Farhan Akhtar expressed his excitement, stating, “This is a special show as Shibani is its creator, making it even more meaningful to me.”

Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, Dabba Cartel boasts a stellar cast including Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao, Jyothika, Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, Lillete Dubey, and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat. Produced by Excel Media and Entertainment, the show promises a gripping narrative of crime and survival.
