Aneet Padda is set to appear in a new drama series titled Hunkkaar: The Roar, which explores what happens when one serious accusation puts a powerful system under scrutiny. The story follows 17 year old Meenu Rawat, played by Aneet, whose allegation against a respected cult leader named Sunil Chakosi, popularly known as “Baapji”, leads to a major investigation.
What begins as a single accusation soon becomes a much bigger case involving the police, courts and media. As the investigation develops, the series looks at questions of power, influence and the way public opinion can shape an ongoing case. The teaser introduces three important characters who approach the same case from different sides.
ACP Jasleen Singh Soni handles the investigation from the police side, while Bhalerao is a lawyer who takes on the case in court. Journalist Amitabh follows the developments through the media and becomes another important part of the story. Their different approaches are expected to show how the same case can be viewed differently by the police, the legal system and the public.
The series brings together elements of a police investigation, courtroom drama and media coverage. As the case attracts national attention, the characters have to deal with the pressure surrounding it.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Aneet revealed that the series was filmed before Saiyaara. She wrote, “Presenting a little something I shot before Saiyaara. Hunkkaar has been a part of my journey for a while, and I’m glad to finally share it with you all. Nahi hoga insaaf ka intezaar, bas goonjegi sachhai ki Hunkkaar. Directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia, the series features Fatima Shaikh, Arjun Mathur, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Aneet Padda, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor. Hunkkaar: The Roar will premiere on September 25, exclusively on JioHotstar.
