Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aneet Padda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are coming together for the upcoming series Hunkkaar: The Roar. The makers have released the trailer, giving viewers a look at an intense investigation involving a teenage girl, a powerful cult leader and the media attention that follows the case. The series is set to premiere on JioHotstar on September 25.
The story follows 17 year old Meenu Rawat, whose accusation against a well known cult leader called Baapji becomes the starting point of the investigation. In the trailer, Meenu accuses Baapji of sexually assaulting her. The allegation quickly turns into a serious case, bringing the police, the media and the followers of the influential figure into the picture.
However, the investigation does not remain as simple as it first appears. As the police begin looking into the case, questions are raised about Meenu and whether everything surrounding her accusation is as straightforward as it seems. The investigation gradually becomes more complicated as different sides of the story come into focus.
Meenu also finds herself under increasing public scrutiny. Since Baapji is a powerful and influential figure, the case attracts considerable media attention. The trailer shows how continuous news coverage begins to influence the way people view Meenu, Baapji and the investigation. The series explores how public opinion can become a major factor when a serious allegation involves a person with a large following.
