Apple TV has released the official trailer for its upcoming comedy series Brothers, which brings longtime friends Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson together in a fictional story inspired by real life rumors about their families. The series features the two actors playing fictional versions of themselves. The story begins when Harrelson moves in with McConaughey after his daughter’s wedding ends badly. What starts as an unusual living situation soon leads the two friends to investigate a decades old mystery involving their families and their parentage.
The story is connected to real comments previously made by Harrelson about a possible connection between McConaughey’s mother and Harrelson’s father. The series takes that real life rumor and builds a comedy around what could happen if the two actors actually discovered that they were biologically related.
As Harrelson deals with the unexpected family revelation, McConaughey is facing another major problem in his personal life. His character is considering a possible political campaign for Governor of Texas, forcing him to think about his identity, his public image and what direction he wants his life to take.
The trailer shows the two friends dealing with the unusual situation while trying to understand what the discovery could mean for their families. Their long friendship also becomes an important part of the story as they attempt to handle the situation together.
The cast also includes Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan, Oona Yaffe and Holland Taylor.
Brothers is produced for Apple TV by Paramount Television Studios. Lee Eisenberg serves as showrunner, while McConaughey and Harrelson are among the executive producers. Trent O’Donnell has directed multiple episodes of the series.
The comedy series will premiere on Apple TV on September 23, 2026. The first two episodes will be released together, followed by one new episode every Wednesday. The weekly release schedule will continue through November 4.
