Ranveer Allahbadia’s shocking remarks land him in trouble! Supreme court steps in

The Supreme Court of India on Monday showed great disapproval over the offensive remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia during Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. A two-judge bench led by Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh condemned Allahabadia’s words, saying his comments were profoundly offensive and went against social mores.

Court Slams Allahabadia’s Remarks
The court called Allahabadia’s comments “filth” which he “spewed out” on the YouTube show. It urged that his words would bring shame to families, especially to sisters, daughters, and parents. The judges asked if Allahabadia comprehended the values and norms of society and put it beyond doubt that such remarks cannot be defended under the banner of freedom of expression. The court also added that the norms of society must always be respected, and no one must utter derogatory remarks that might hurt the dignity of people.

Directions and Relief for Allahabadia
Though there was a strong warning, the court provided some relief to Allahabadia. He was directed to surrender his passport to the police station and was not allowed to go abroad without permission. The court also directed him to cooperate with the police and investigation agencies in full. In a big decision, the court ruled that no fresh episodes of Ranveer’s show will be broadcast until the issue is completely resolved.

Concerns Over YouTube Content and Online
The Supreme Court also expressed concerns over the availability of pornographic content on sites such as YouTube. The bench asked the government to explain its position on controlling such content. The court stated that if the government is ready to act, it would appreciate the action; otherwise, the issue of misused YouTube channels would continue, exposing viewers to unsuitable content.

This case has highlighted the role of online platforms and influencers in ensuring the dignity and respect of a person when posting content.
