Creator, show-runner and director Robbie Grewal has reflected on the resounding success and viewer appeal of the show ‘Aakhri Sach’, saying he focused on making a good story. ‘Aakhri Sach’ has a compelling narrative and intense storytelling.
Talking about the same, Robbie said: “I don’t know how to gauge the results of a web series. I focused on making a good story. As a maker, I don’t think much about rankings and numbers or business. That’s not why you create a show or a movie. That’s a plus.”
He said: “But what draws me is the fascinating story and the audience reactions are a good feeling. What we set out to make has been liked by the audience and that’s rewarding for any maker.”
The show headlined by Tamannaah Bhatia is loosely adapted from the infamous multiple death case in Delhi’s Burari area in 2018.
Robbierightly gives the credit to his two important actors — Tamannaah and Abhishek Banerjee, who are walking away with all the praise.
Talking about the star cast, Robbieshared: “I met them and as luck would have it, they liked the story, treatment and character arcs. Tamannah has a soft face and one doesn’t expect her to play a cop. It was a surprise for the viewers and that paid off.”
“Abhishek is just phenomenal and he was just the right sort of nuanced actor who knew the details to pick up. I think the real fabric of the family has landed. There is a fresh and organic look to the family,” he added.
One night, one family, multiple deaths, an investigating officer and various theories, ‘Aakhri Sach’ is inspired by true events.
Set against the backdrop of simmering tension, the series delves into the lives of each character as Tamannaah, playing the role of Anya, the lead investigative officer, embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery of the deaths.
Produced by Nirvikar Films, directed by Robbie Grewal, and written by Saurav Dey, ‘Aakhri Sach’ is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
