Netflix has released the official trailer and new images for ‘The Final Problem’, an upcoming limited series based on the bestselling novel of the same name by acclaimed author Arturo Pérez Reverte. The four episode series stars Jose Coronado, María Valverde, Martiño Rivas and Maribel Verdú, along with several other well known actors. The series will premiere on Netflix on September 25.
Set in 1959, the story begins when thirteen people become trapped on a small island near Mallorca after a violent storm. They are staying at a secluded hotel and have no way to leave the island. Things take a much darker turn when Elisa Mander, a quiet English tourist, is found dead.
At first, her death appears to be a suicide. However, the situation soon changes when evidence suggests that she was actually murdered. With the island cut off from the outside world, everyone at the hotel becomes a possible suspect.
The person who takes on the task of finding the killer is Basil, a retired actor who once played Sherlock Holmes in films. Although he does not expect to become involved in a real murder investigation, Basil must use his skills to understand what really happened.
As the investigation continues, more secrets begin to come out. With thirteen people trapped in one location, tensions rise as everyone has something to hide. The mystery becomes increasingly complicated as Basil tries to separate the truth from the stories being told by the guests and hotel employees.
The cast also includes Gonzalo de Castro, Cristina Kovani, José Condessa and Pepón Nieto.
‘The Final Problem’ is produced by Mod Producciones. Fernando Bovaira serves as producer, while Urko Errazquin is the executive producer. Alberto Macías, Carlos Molinero and Marisol Farré have written the screenplay.
The series is directed by Félix Viscarret, who is known for ‘Una vida no tan simple’ and ‘Staring at Strangers’.
Based on Arturo Pérez Reverte’s novel, the series combines a period setting with a murder mystery and focuses on the secrets surrounding the people trapped on the island. ‘The Final Problem’ premieres on Netflix on September 25.
