The Traitors reunion: Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui clash over ‘drugs’ comment

The Traitors reunion turned heated when Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui revisited their disagreements from the show. During the reunion, host Karan Johar played a clip featuring Mallika’s candid opinions about the contestants and then questioned Munawar about his earlier remark that she was playing dumb. Munawar explained that Mallika herself had admitted that she was putting on a “fake” persona for the reality show. He said that Mallika is actually a very intelligent and worldly woman but was pretending to be “dumb” as part of her gameplay. Mallika responded with her trademark humour and told him, “Munawar ne toh mujhpe Phd kar rakhi hai, haina?” Munawar joked that he was not educated enough to have a Phd.

The conversation then moved towards Mallika’s concerns about comments made about her during the show. Mallika recalled their earlier Circle of Shaq discussion and said Munawar could not understand her calm nature. She said she never expected being calm to become a problem in a game like The Traitors. Referring to a comment suggesting that she looked as if she was on drugs, Mallika said she found it deeply offensive and described it as a misogynistic remark. She argued that contestants had every right to question her gameplay or suspect her, but personal comments about drugs crossed a line. Mallika said, “Aapko pura haq hai mujhpe shaq karne ka. Lekin yeh bolna ki aap drugs par hain, and if you cannot understand my calm nervous system, being calm ab crime ho gaya.” She also objected to the idea that the game was about making a comeback, saying that this was not the spirit of the show.

Karan Johar then reminded Mallika that she had herself made a similar comment about Rhea Chakraborty during the show. Karan called Mallika’s remark “below the belt” and pointed out that Rhea had gone through a particularly difficult period in her life. He stressed that what Rhea experienced was very different from the struggles of the other contestants and said that no humane person should bring up such experiences in this manner. Mallika accepted the criticism and revealed that she later apologised to Rhea for her comment. Interestingly, Rhea Chakraborty and Parul Gulati were not present at The Traitors reunion, leaving Mallika and Munawar to address their disagreements directly.
