Marathi theatre is set to welcome a new play with a meaningful and emotional story. Mukkam Post Pandharpur will explore themes such as duty, love, connection with one’s roots and humanity. The play is scheduled to have its opening show on August 22, 2026, at 4 pm at Yashwant Natya Mandir in Matunga. The makers promise a story that looks at human relationships and emotions through a different perspective.
Produced by Nitin Vaidya Productions, Mukkam Post Pandharpur is written by Mayur Sarakale and Ashutosh Popat Jare, with Jare also directing the play. The story focuses on the different layers of human relationships and the emotions connected to everyday life. As the story moves forward, the audience will get to see the journeys of its characters and the situations that shape their lives. The makers aim to create a play that allows viewers to connect with the characters and understand their emotions.
The posters of Mukkam Post Pandharpur also give the play a strong spiritual feel. The central character is shown standing near large statues of Lord Vitthal, creating an image of being surrounded by faith and protection. This visual adds another layer to the story and connects it with the ideas of devotion, one’s relationship with the soil and the importance of humanity. Pandharpur itself is closely associated with Lord Vitthal and devotion, making the setting an important part of the play’s identity.
Rohit Mane, Yogesh Chikatgavkar, Sanika Renuke, Bipin Ghobale, Sanjeevani Patil and Amol Tate play the lead roles in the production. Through their performances, the actors will bring different characters and their emotional journeys to the stage. Along with the performances, music, set design and lighting will also play an important role in creating the right atmosphere for the story.
Director Ashutosh Popat Jare said, “‘मुक्काम पोस्ट पंढरपूर’च्या माध्यमातून प्रेक्षकांना या कथेतला प्रवास अनुभवायला द्यायचा आहे. प्रत्येक व्यक्तिरेखेचा स्वतःचा एक प्रवास आहे आणि तो रंगमंचावर प्रामाणिकपणे उभा करण्याचा आमचा प्रयत्न असेल. शुभारंभाच्या प्रयोगापासूनच प्रेक्षकांना ही गोष्ट आपली वाटावी, अशी आमची इच्छा आहे.”
Producer Nitin Prakash Vaidya said, “‘मुक्काम पोस्ट पंढरपूर’ची कथा आणि तिचं भावविश्व आम्हाला खूप जवळचं वाटलं. त्यामुळे ही कलाकृती प्रेक्षकांसमोर आणताना एक चांगली टीम एकत्र आणण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे. उत्तम कलाकार आणि तंत्रज्ञांच्या साथीने हे नाटक आकाराला येणार असून, प्रेक्षकांना एक मनाला भिडणारा रंगमंचीय अनुभव मिळेल, असा आम्हाला विश्वास आहे.”
The play is produced by Dr Umesh Ajgaonkar, Nitin Prakash Vaidya, Sachin Subhash Awasthi and Swati Dive Mukherjee. Ajit Parab has composed the music, with additional music by Yogesh Chikatgavkar. Nitin Naik will serve as the narrator.
