The teaser of Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming film Ranabaali has given audiences a first look at the actor in a rugged warrior role. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is set during British colonial rule and is connected to the 1870s Madras Famine. Vijay plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna plays the character of Jayamma.
The teaser presents a period setting filled with action, conflict and large scale battle sequences. Vijay’s character is shown riding horses and taking part in intense fights, giving a clear idea of the physical nature of the role. The visuals also show the harsh conditions surrounding the story and the struggle against British rule.
Ranabaali also features Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo as Sir Theodore Hector, who appears to be one of the major antagonists in the film. His character is presented as a powerful and threatening British officer who stands against Vijay’s warrior character. The teaser uses several dramatic battle moments to establish the conflict between the two sides.
The film also focuses on the historical suffering caused during British rule. According to the makers, Ranabaali pays tribute to eight million Indians who lost their lives under British oppression. The story uses this historical period as the backdrop for its fictional characters and events.
Music plays an important role in the teaser, with Ajay and Atul providing the background score. The music adds to the tension of the battle scenes and the larger historical setting shown in the footage.
Rashmika Mandanna has described the project as a meaningful combination of history and storytelling. Her character Jayamma is expected to have an important place in the narrative alongside Vijay’s Ranabaali.
The teaser has received attention from fans, particularly for Vijay’s rugged appearance and the scale of the action sequences. The film marks another action focused role for the actor and presents him in a period setting that is different from many of his earlier films.
Ranabaali is scheduled to release worldwide on October 16, 2026. The film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, allowing it to reach audiences across several Indian language markets.
