Karishma Tanna and her husband Varun Bangera have finally revealed the name of their baby boy, more than a month after becoming parents for the first time. The couple chose the occasion of Janmashtami on Friday, September 4, to introduce their son to the world as Ved Tanna Bangera. Karishma and Varun welcomed Ved on July 29, 2026, which was also Guru Purnima. While sharing the news of his arrival at the time, Karishma had spoken about the importance of the date. The couple had chosen to keep their son’s name private until now.
Karishma and Varun shared the announcement through a joint social media post. Along with a template carrying their son’s name, they revealed that they had chosen “Ved” for their first child. “On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, with Kanha’s blessings, we lovingly introduce our little miracle… VED TANNA BANGERA. A name that means sacred knowledge, wisdom and light. With all our love, Karishma & Varun,” the couple wrote. The name reveal came a little over a month after Ved’s birth and on another important religious occasion.
The name Ved comes from the Sanskrit word “Veda”, which is linked to the ancient sacred scriptures of India. As explained by Karishma and Varun, the name represents “sacred knowledge, wisdom and light.” Karishma had announced her pregnancy on April 6, 2026, and later shared occasional glimpses of her journey with fans. Ved is the couple’s first child together.
Karishma and Varun got married on February 5, 2022, in Mumbai in an intimate ceremony attended by their families and close friends. More than four years after their wedding, they entered parenthood with Ved’s arrival.
Karishma has worked in television, films and streaming for more than two decades. She made her television debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in 2001. Her recent acclaimed work includes Hansal Mehta’s Netflix series Scoop, where she played journalist Jagruti Pathak. She is next slated to appear in Mom 2 alongside Khushi Kapoor.
