Tejasswi Prakash, among the popular and bankable actresses in the TV world, returned to the screen with Celebrity MasterChef. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, she opened up on various aspects of her career that are associated with the prevailing debate over the overexposure of TV actors for film roles.
Tejasswi said about her film experience. She said, “I have never been criticized for being exposed in my two Marathi films.” She added, “When I did my two films, they were very excited to have me. In both the films, no one mentioned that I was over-exposed because they were Marathi films.”. Even today, when I speak Marathi, people like Usha tai, Nikki, and Abhijeet are surprised, but I remind them that I’m Maharashtrian.” However, she also revealed that she has faced rejections in the past, with some auditions turning her down because of her visibility on TV. “I’ve been rejected for being overexposed, with the reasoning being that people have already seen me too much on TV,” Tejasswi admitted. She accepted the fact that it is common, but disagreed by saying she isn’t lesser due to her visible status.

In another aspect of discussing industry shifts, she told how Celebrity MasterChef is engaging her. As influencers started seeking a career in acting, there’s increased competition in the business, yet this actress continues doing what matters. “Rationally, things are slowly changing because influencers with acting experience have proven that people want to see them,” she said. In the same vein, she appreciated the stiff competition, especially if she were among the actresses the same age group. “It’s tough as there are a lot of us, especially people whose parents were actors. Can only work hard and leave everything to Ganpati Bappa,” she joked.
