Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office Update: Shanaya Kapoor’s Film Crosses Rs 1 Crore, But There’s a Catch

Shanaya Kapoor’s highly anticipated Bollywood debut, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, has had a slow and quiet start at the box office. The romantic drama, which also stars Vikrant Massey, managed to earn just Rs 1.2 crore in India over its first weekend. Released this past Friday, the film recorded Rs 0.30 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 0.49 crore on Saturday and Rs 0.41 crore on Sunday, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.

Low Occupancy and Audience Response
Despite a slight increase in collections over the weekend, the film has struggled to draw significant crowds. On Sunday, the overall occupancy for the Hindi version stood at 17.11%, up from Saturday’s 15.25%. Morning shows had a low 7.40% turnout, while afternoon and evening shows saw marginally better attendance at 20.09% and 23.14%, respectively. However, night shows registered 0% occupancy—likely due to limited or cancelled screenings in certain circuits.

Mixed Reviews and Execution Critique
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan has received mixed reviews from critics. News18 Showsha gave it three stars, noting that while the film boasts a heartfelt plot, sincere performances, and a soulful soundtrack by Vishal Mishra, its biggest weakness lies in its execution. “Some dialogues had the audience chuckling for all the wrong reasons,” the review noted, calling the film a “half-baked cake.”

Debut of Shanaya Kapoor
Directed by Santosh Singh and produced by Mansi and Varun Bagla, the film is inspired by Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It. It tells the story of a visually impaired musician and a vibrant theatre artist exploring love, perception, and human connection. Shanaya, daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, was earlier set to debut with Bedhadak, which was shelved.
