Alia Bhatt’s Jigra has struggled to gain significant traction at the box office, despite early positive trends and buzz. Directed by Vasan Bala, the film stars Bhatt alongside Vedang Raina, Manoj Pahwa, and Rahul Ravindran. Despite the strong lineup and production backing from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra has been met with mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.
After completing its first week in theaters, Jigra’s box office performance remains underwhelming, with the total collection amounting to ₹23.60 crore. On its second Friday (Day 8), it earned only ₹1.15 crore, showing a continued downward trend.
Day-Wise Box Office Collection:
Day 1: ₹4.55 crore
Day 2: ₹6.55 crore
Day 3: ₹5.5 crore
Day 4: ₹1.65 crore
Day 5: ₹1.60 crore
Day 6: ₹1.35 crore
Day 7: ₹1.25 crore
Day 8: ₹1.15 crore (early estimate)
The film’s total collection so far is modest, especially for a project with high expectations tied to Alia Bhatt’s star power. Jigra faces stiff competition from other releases like Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which, although also underperforming, is slightly ahead in box office numbers.
Jigra’s story follows Satya (Alia Bhatt), who goes through a harrowing journey after her younger brother Ankur is wrongfully sentenced to death for drug possession on a foreign island. Satya embarks on a bold and dangerous mission to break him out of prison, adding tension to the narrative but failing to resonate deeply with the audience.
Despite its underperformance, it’s still early to completely write off Jigra, as weekend numbers and word-of-mouth could potentially help its earnings.
