Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, is a film released on January 31, 2025. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde, the action thriller had a very slow start at the box office, failing to make a mark with strong numbers in its first two days. Despite Shahid’s star power, the film has yet to make a mark.
Backed by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films, Deva opened to a lukewarm response, collecting ₹4.50 crore on its first day. Day two is expected to see only minimal growth, which means the film may face an underwhelming opening weekend unless it picks up pace on Day 3.

The film looks for an upswing on Sunday with office-going crowds and even general audiences lifting the collections. Still, it’s a rather disappointing opening as compared to the Shahid Kapoor release of 2024, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which opened at ₹6.5 crore and then grew 40% on day two to ₹9.5 crore.
One reason for the dull outing by Deva could be that it is a remake. The movie is a Hindi version of Rosshan Andrrews’ Malayalam film Mumbai Police (2013). The original lead was Prithviraj Sukumaran. Shahid Kapoor plays fearless cop Dev Ambre, who loses his memory in the process of cracking a high-profile case.
Despite the thrilling premise, Deva is failing to make an impact in its crucial opening days. With competition from Sky Force, the film will need a strong turnaround in the coming days to stay relevant at the box office.
